Milestones….Milestones…Milestones!

The GNRT is almost at 400 Quizzes, The Anglers and Distillers approaching 350 and the King’s Head which still feels relatively new passed 200 quizzes back in September! The milestones just keep on coming as the big four pubs continue to have regulars and new teams joining us week in, week out. The Anglers in Teddington having between 60-100 players every week, the King’s Head and GNRT boasting 40-50 players most weeks and the Distillers usually with 30+ on a Sunday night. Pub quizzing is alive and well!

It’s not all in London, you know!

After years of established quizzes both in pubs and for corporates & charities, after hosting a quiz for volunteers and staff of Leonardslee estate in Sussex, they decided to try out a night for the members, and it was a huge success. As a result, in 2026, I have been signed up for a regular once a month quiz to members alongside staff quizzes, volunteer quizzes and even a wedding or two. Looks like Horsham will become my second home in 2026!

Cotswolds too!

Not only am I branching out by travelling to Sussex each month, but alongside my new monthly pub quiz in the Barbican, I am also teaming up with Jess (former manager of the GNRT, where it all started for me as PJQuiz) to host a quiz in The George at Brailes each month. Away from the hustle and bustle of Central London, the playdoh and mash ups will be testing the people of the Cotswolds!

I Do…. wedding quizzes!

I know, sounds a bit strange. The wedding quiz! However, these quizzes are fantastic as they keep the energy going and provide a chance for guests of the wedding to mingle with people perhaps they didn’t know before. I can write one tailored to the couple (cryptic places they’ve been on dates, questions about the couple, things that happened the year they got together etc) and provide prizes and fun with an hour of entertainment. I’ve also hosted plenty of engagement parties & even a Hen do! So if you want me to make your special day that little bit more special, get in touch!

Quiz writing for National Television!

Jeremy Vine and his team got in touch with me in 2023 to ask me to write questions for a new quiz segment in his Channel 5 morning show. It went on for several months proving high drama as viewers were gripped to see who would win the mystery vinyl or tote bag! I even had the pleasure of meeting Jeremy who shared this photo on his show! Quiz roulette. It will go down in TV folklore! Bring on the BAFTA!

It wasn’t just fame through Jeremy Vine… On April 1st 2020, I thought it was an April fool, but it wasn’t! After three epic online quizzes during lockdown (I have now hosted over 185!) Martin Lewis & The Moneysavingexpert website no less put me on there listed not once, but twice! So if you weren’t sure before. Martin says play it! So do it! (All of them are available to play on my facebook live videos page)

Stop the Press…

On the weekend of May 9th & 10th 2020, the virtual quizzes, which had been going for 2 months, were mentioned within a feature in the I Weekend on the best 15 online quizzes to play during lockdown. What a proud moment to get a business I had set up a few years earlier into a national newspaper. The support has been fantastic, so thank you all for helping me get to this level!

Ready, set, go!

After successfully completing the London Marathon in April 2024, I decided I wanted to get the quiz players involved. Running can be a bit boring when done on your own, but with others around and a nice drink at the end, it can become something beautiful! I am starting up a running club at the end of 2025 and beginning of 2026 called the PJQuiz Runners! (original, I know!) If you would like to join us, it is free and will take place once a month (to begin with) on Thursday nights in the West London area. Come down, get running!

Corporates, Charities & Education

Alongside my weekly pub quizzes, I also have the pleasure of hosting for an array of Corporate clients, charities and educational venues every year. Below are the majority of companies, schools, universities and charities who I either have hosted for in the past or continue to host for annually.

Don’t delay, get booking to add your company, charity or school to this illustrious list!

Corporate Clients

Charities

For around 20 years now, I have done my bit for various charities. Quizzes are a big part of that, and many quizzes over the years have been in aid of charities. Below are all the charities I have hosted quizzes for plus some stories of some of the most memorable charity quiz nights over the years.

My BIGGEST Quizzes!

I had already climbed Ben Nevis and done runs for Alzheimer’s Society, so when they got in touch and wanted a virtual quiz during lockdown, I jumped at the chance. On Friday June 5th 2020, the Great Big Quiz was amazing, and with the help of Sir Tony Robinson (Blackadder), John Bishop (Comedian) & Robbie Savage (Footballer & Strictly), supported by the William Hill Foundation, we had a fantastic night! I even had three costume changes as the quiz was streamed live on YouTube and JustGiving. Celebs such as Lord Sugar, Geraint Thomas and Vicky McClure promoted it too in the build up, and it paid off as the total was around £24,000 in the end! Amazing Cause, incredible night. To add to this, there was a second, family quiz on January 31st 2021. Complete with Richard McCourt (Dick & Dom), Comedian Lucy Porter and Actor David Bradley (Game of Thrones, Harry Potter) We raised a further £21,000! Two great quizzes, and epic totals!

‘Fun’ in Fundraising

I not only had the pleasure of raising lots of money for endometriosis UK with multiple quizzes (and virtual events during lockdown), I also got to create fundraising quiz packs with them for many years, so that other people could host their own pub quiz event and raise money!

World’s BIGGEST Quiz!

On Sunday 3rd March 2019, I hosted someone else’s quiz for the first time in 9 years as Pub Aid delivered the WORLD’S BIGGEST PUB QUIZ which was happening simultaneously around the country over a period of days. I hosted in The Distillers in Hammersmith and managed to raise around £150 for Prostate Cancer UK.

Alongside You is an East London based charity that works tirelessly to support families living with a HIV diagnosis. They run an intensive programme of outings for the children as well as working one to one with families who are most in need. In November, 2017, In A fundraising and awareness event in Canning Town, our Quiz Night raised around £800!

Spear is based all around London and prepares young people from disadvantaged backgrounds for the workplace, and trains employers to get the best out of them. Using a year-long programme that equips 16-to-24-year-olds not in education, employment or training (NEET) from disadvantaged backgrounds to find long-term employment. Miranda Hart is their Ambassador. They took over a Monday Night Quiz at the Admiralty in January 2018, and with 55 Players, we raised over £200! Not bad for a Monday Evenings entertainment!

The Quiz was such a success that just 7 weeks later, they had another one, raising a further £150 with around 40 players. I have a good relationship with some of the guys from this charity now, so here's hoping for plenty more fundraisers for them in the future!

Screen+Shot+2019-03-01+at+10.18.51.jpg

The Night after the Prostate Cancer Quiz, on March 4th 2019, 2 ladies who had got in touch with me were both running Marathons for separate causes: Dementia Revolution and Friends of the Earth. We fundraised the hell out of the night, and had raffles, special Boozy Bingo and ended up making a very tasty £300 which the ladies were overwhelmed with. A Fantastic night with over 60 people down in the Gun deck at the Admiralty in Trafalgar Square.

St+George%27s+Day+Facebook+Event+Picture.jpg

George Nazer is a legend. A Guy who really helped me start up my business along with Jess and the team at the GNRT, So when he passed away so tragically young last year, we all wanted to do something special. The Pub put on a Fundraiser (or Fund-nazer) in his honour and raised £2700. So I decided a few weeks later to do my bit and help raise more money for SUDEP Action dealing with epilepsy. We raised a nice £150 from the Quiz which meant the overall total from the GNRT To SUDEP Action ended up being £2850! BOSH!

In August, 2019. A player called Ellie from the GNRT Quiz asked if I Could host a special one off Sunday Quiz at the nearby Maynard Arms in Crouch End. The Pub was packed to the rafters as around 75 Players turned up. We had some terrific Playdoh, the Quiz brought many smiles, and I got to give away some of the most unique prizes you could ever imagine in a Quiz night! There was also an incredible Raffle, and all in all, we managed to raise over £1000 for Gekko Kids, a charity who help Refugee Children. What a difference that will make, and nice to host in another part of North London!

thumbnail_Poster for Quiz for TaxAid.jpg

Two quizzes for Tax Aid and Tax help for older people. One quiz as a multiple choice pre written interactive quiz in June and then one for the public in July. In total, around £3500 was raised over the two quizzes. A fantastic total for a charity which helps people who struggle with accounts or tax, particularly in covid-19 times. Once covid was a thing of the past, I actually was lucky enough to go back in February 2023 to the BDO offices in Baker Street to once again raise money for these important charities. The aim was to raise another £5000, and as someone who is self employed, I think this charity is vital.

125EA05C-FA2E-4743-998D-41AC859B395B.png

One of the most important charity quizzes I hosted was on February 5th, 2021. At a time where Covid-19 was at its peak in the UK and with the Ambulance staff up and down the country stretched to their limits. This quiz helped to raise money for them helping them with things such as funding and counselling.

They have been our heroes long before this pandemic was even a thing, but we have all seen what they have been through in this toughest of times.

I got together lots of ambulance staff from around the UK sharing their stories and photos, and a really fun night helped raise over £1200 for TASC (The Ambulance Staff Charity) and even made it onto the front of the Coventry Observer, no less!

Schools & Universities

A portfolio that seems to get bigger each year are the educational quizzes. Most of the schools and Universities below I host in at least once a year. Often for PTA fundraising nights, but sometimes for the students or new starters. I do enjoy these quizzes, and they are some of the most competitively fought events of the year!

I can provide an evening of entertainment which would include hosting a regular or one off Quiz (complete with Gold Blazer!)

I would also provide writing materials, creative materials such as colours or play doh, all print outs and a multitude of prizes (which could range from small prizes to big things depending on the agreement). I have a MacBook Pro,  microphone & Mini Speaker System, but have hosted many events without the need of any technology whatsoever.

Alternatively if you don't require a host, but still need a quiz, I can provide the quiz in written form for a smaller fee. I have written thousands of quizzes since I started hosting and writing all the way back in 2010, so have a lot to choose from.

Send me a message in the contact section below to find out about prices and to enquire about hiring my services or obtaining a quiz from me.

Current PUB Quizzes

Monday Nights:

The Great Northern Railway Tavern (GNRT)

Hornsey,

North London,

7.30pm - 9.30pm

The OG! This Quiz has been running since April 2017. We have had party Quizzes, specialist theme nights and even went up against a Shakespeare Performance... And won! From 2017 until February 2022, the quiz took place on Wednesday nights before moving to its new slot of Mondays! Taking place in the Beautiful Ballroom, this Hornsey bonanza brings in all the locals giving it a real sense of community. The pub also boasts an epic selection of Craft Beers, cracking menu, and picturesque beer garden complete with fire, bunting and little heated huts. Our Highest number of players came on our 100th Quiz when 84 Players were in the house! That was then followed by over 50 for our 2nd birthday! Despite lockdowns, we still manage to get around 50 players each week, so come and join us, start the week on the right track! In January 2024, the quiz passed it’s 300th milestone and even has a plaque in the toilets to commemorate the winning team! You want a plaque for your team? Come to the 400th!

Tuesday Nights:

The Anglers

Teddington Lock,

South West London / Middlesex

7.30pm - 9.30pm

This Quiz started in March 2018 and was the Tuesday replacement for 2017's Quiz at the Masons Arms in Battersea. I'm travelling even further South to some old haunts for a nostalgic trip down memory lane! The Anglers is a beautiful pub situated right on the Thames by Teddington Lock. The Pub (Like the Admiralty) already had a quiz, but it was in need of a shake up on request from the pub, so I grabbed the opportunity with both hands and had 54 Players in the first Quiz! It was a great opportunity for the South West Londoners to get creative with Playdoh and reunited me with some of my uni friends, 10 years on! Most Importantly, the Quiz brought a feeling of community and an atmosphere on a Tuesday Night, which pleased the staff immensely and by the end of the summer, all the old Quiz teams were coming back too! We are Regularly giving away big money here, so don't miss out!! The Quiz kept going from strength to strength & included special guests and a Christmas Choir featured within rounds during December. After player numbers of 97, 91, 72 and even 40 on New Years Day, the Quiz came back after its long Winter break, starting in the brand spanking newly refurbished pub on May 28th, and with regulars returning, the quiz is actually doing better than ever with up to 100 players turning up some weeks and around 60-80 as the average amount! Get involved! Quiz 300 came and went, numbers regularly are between 70-100 players every single Tuesday!

Wednesday Nights:

The King’s Head,

Earl’s Court,

West London,

7.30pm - 9.30pm

This quiz was given 4 weeks as a trial back in September 2021. Fortunately, I sprinkled my quiz magic into the pub and crowds of people came. Lots of university students, locals and some just in the area for the day. This quiz is a little more international as a variety of tourists who are there amongst the regulars each week. After a successful year of Thursday nights, the quiz moved to Wednesday. For a pub which needed a quiz, we have never had fewer than 20 players and sometimes have over 60, some of whom have become a cult following and regularly ask for a selfie! It really is unique, this quiz! By the summer of 2024, we hadn’t taken a single week off since it’s beginning in 2021 and reached the 150th milestone!

Sunday Nights:

The Distillers

Hammersmith,

West London,

7.30pm - 9.30pm

You have to end your week the right way, and this pub quiz is definitely the way to do it. The ultimate Sunday funday. Come and have a roast, play the quiz and make some playdoh things. This quiz is what Sundays were made for! Since the summer of 2022, the numbers have been consistently high as regular faces come back every week as their perfect end to a nice weekend, and in the Spring of 2025, we celebrated our 300th quiz. With a resurgence of youth, our quizzes have started gaining 50-80 people every single Sunday! The atmosphere is often loud in Hammersmith, so get yourself down for fun and always book in advance to avoid disappointment! The pub also had a refurb in 2025 to make this the shiniest, newest pub I host in!

QUIZ FEATURES

Our Famous Mash Up Music Round.

I have been doing this since my very first Quiz in 2010. Here, 2 Songs are mashed together over 5 Mash Ups each week. This round keeps bringing teams back & showcases some of my finest Dad Dancing moves as a quiz host & entertainer! Expect random mixes like Nena with Jay Z or Linkin Park with Celine Dion. It really is a treat for the ears!

Featured on Sunday nights at the Distillers in Hammersmith and on Monday nights in Hornsey at the GNRT.

A Game I developed after playing it on a holiday in Spain in 2017. It really is simple, but people seem to love it! Each team gets some playing cards, and I have the Giant cards. If I call the players cards out, they turn them over, and once on a last card, hold it in the air. Whichever teams last card gets called out first, they win the booze, which ranges from specialist Fullers beers or a selection of varying craft beers. After an absence of two years due to Covid-19, it is BACK in Hornsey on Monday nights! A fun game and chance to win a decent prize even if your actual quiz night isn’t going as well…!

Cheap Cheap Cheap!

Some pubs don’t have mash up music, so instead, they get the treat of my shopping challenge.

Every team gets a prize, that is something I have done since the very first quiz (even nights where we have had 25 teams, they have still gone home with something). So each week I show three prizes from the bag for that quiz and the teams have to guess which one cost me the least money.

Before anyone asks, yes, I do have a club card! Cheap Cheap Cheap is played at the Anglers in Teddington on Tuesday nights and the King’s Head in Earl’s Court on Wednesday nights.

There are no such thing as losers in my quizzes.

Along with the Mash Ups, The idea of giving someone a prize for coming last was something I have done since day one back in 2010. Originally it was just “Doughnuts” but then sometimes teams would throw away the quiz to just settle for doughnuts, so now if your team finishes bottom of the pile, you play a game called Doughnuts or Plums, the metaphor for being a loser! There are 2 Numbers, behind one is a picture of Doughnuts, and the other contains a picture of Plums. Depending on what is picked, this is what is won! The Modern Day Wooden Spoon!

Money Or Honey!

In the Summer of 2018, The Manager of the Distillers pub in Hammersmith wanted to shake up the prizes a little in a bid to bring in regular teams. To some degree this has worked, and is an old Jackpot game that I used to play at the Bull in Islington and then attempted with limited success in The Masons Arms, Battersea in 2017. The premise is simple. If a team wins the Quiz, they can either take a bar tab on the spot, or gamble it for a game called Money or Honey. The Jackpot game starts off with 10 Jars (originally envelopes), 9 of which contain a picture of a Beehive (Honey) and one containing a picture of Money. They are placed in at random, so even I don’t have a clue which one contains the winnings. Back at the Bull, we gave away some big money, and already on Jackpot 1, £600 went to the winners. It is a lot of fun, but comes with the risk that you could quiz your heart out only to go home with just a jar of honey! We have now done 16 jackpots and given away thousands of pounds!

Monday Nights

Upper Street, Islington

North London

This Quiz ran for 6 years in Islington's busy Upper Street. Started small & then grew in popularity throughout. We had over 70 players some weeks and an extra jackpot which ensured we gave away over £1000 in just a few months, Which isn't bad for a Monday Night!

The Canonbury Tavern

May 2012 - August 2015

Sunday Nights

Canonbury

North London

Running from 2012 until Summer 2015, this Quiz took over this gorgeous residential hub on Sunday Nights. With its massive beer garden, Summer quizzes were favourites with the local residents, and in winter, the cosy Quizzes kept everyone entertained to finish off their weekends!

The Masons Arms

September - December 2017

Tuesday Nights

Battersea

South London

This Quiz was my first venture 'South of the River' and showed real promise within the opening month, as this cosy pub tried to look for a new clientele and regular customers. Sadly, most players and drinkers in this pub are after workers who have a train to catch, so despite positive feedback and the odd busy quiz, on the whole, the low numbers of people in the pub meant free quizzes and no return players. It was put on hold in January 2018 but could again take place some other time.

The Washington

Tuesday 19th December 2017

50 Englands Lane, Belsize Park

North london

This was a one off Quiz which could have been more. Sadly, I was offered this Quiz after I had taken the Masons Arms in Battersea, so Instead, I headed there to host a Christmas Quiz in December which attracted 16 Teams made up of 70 players. It was a fantastic Atmosphere, and if rumours are true, I Should be back there this year for some more specials! It also prompted a PTA Event for Nearby St Mary's School in Hampstead which had 90 players all raising money for Hakuna Matata Charity. Well, they do say work generates work!

Birdcage Social Media Poster.png

The Drafthouse Birdcage

March 2019 - March 2020

Tuesday Nights

Columbia Road,

East London

After hosting in 6 Fullers Pubs over the past 2 years (GNRT, Admiralty, Masons Arms, Anglers, Distillers and the Cock & Bull), Former Assistant Manager of the Distillers got in touch with me, as multiple DraftHouse Pubs were interested in taking me in. I didn’t have too many open windows with such a busy schedule, but took the opportunity, as Hosting a quiz in East London would complete the set of one in each part of the capital. I hosted for around 3 months until I went back to the Anglers in Teddington, but the quiz then was hosted by Aussie Chris, Eric and Charlotte up until March 2020. 40 Quizzes in total (12 hosted by me). Sadly after lockdown, with new management, the pub decided to go a different direction, although I found out through an advert on Instagram, which wasn’t cool.

Admiralty Social Media Poster 2018.png

The Admiralty

September 2017 - March 2020

Monday Nights

Trafalgar Square

Central London

This was perhaps the saddest loss of any quiz. After 113 fantastic quizzes in London’s most central pub, the joy of finishing a quiz and seeing Nelson’s column all lit up upon leaving never got old. The quiz went on for 3 years, however, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, with the gun deck not having windows or enough air flow, plus many regular teams were now working from home, the pub quiz sadly finished. The last quiz (not that we knew at the time) was hosted just 2 weeks before lockdown 1. A great pub, a memorable quiz where I even hosted events for the staff. Hopefully I will be back there for occasional corporate & charity quizzes in the future. What a fun few years in Trafalgar Square!

Cock & Bull (November Poster).png

The Cock & Bull

June 2018 - November 2020

Thursday Nights

Sutton, Surrey

If losing the Admiralty was sad due to the location, this was even sadder due to the players. At least the Admiralty is still open, so there is a possibility that one day I could be back there hosting a quiz. The Cock and Bull, however, was one of the pubs that Fullers had to close for good after too many opening and closings due to Covid-19. This one had the most character due to the constant regulars who showed up. Even at the end, when there were so many rules by the government on how you went to a pub, they still poured in every Thursday. We never made it to 100 quizzes, but we went out with a bang on November 5th 2020, as myself and Ben said farewell with our 99th C&B Quiz. Hopefully, the Sutton players will come and join me in not too far away Teddington or Hammersmith in the future! What a ride we had!

The White Horse

June 2021 - December 2021

Monday Nights

Wembley

This one is the strangest one. It was the first brand new pub I had gone into. The pub so shiny and full of life, and with it being underneath lots of new flats, we were never short on players. Once the Euros had finished, we were getting between 50-80 players on a consistent basis and actually had to start turning teams away! The following was huge and we had a lot of fun in the 25 quizzes I hosted. Sadly, due to Wembley Arena opening up again, it made consistent quizzing impossible, so as a result, the pub and I agreed that they needed a new quiz which was more flexible, and I needed a solid Monday quiz that ran every week. Sad really, as this quiz was a really fun one.

The Hare & Hounds

February 2025 - September 2025

Thursday Nights

Sunbury-on-Thames

This was the first non-Fullers pub I had taken on in some time, as they got in contact with me. A pub quiz which reminded me a little of the Cock and Bull in Sutton. We struggled to get players, however those who did come became a quiz family. The community feeling was fantastic, and sadly after a change of management, the quiz became just a memory. We enjoyed seven fun months of quizzing in Sunbury though!
